How it started

Haul-It Movers started in New Lenox as two brothers with a box truck, a stack of moving blankets, and a lot of friends who needed help moving. The first summer we logged a few dozen jobs: apartments in Joliet, a farmhouse on Bell Road, a lot of retirees moving into Clarendale of Mokena, and more pool tables than we expected. The rate sheet from that summer is still basically the one on this site. Two movers and the truck by the hour, a small travel fee, and no surprises in the driveway.

Why the rates are on the site

Most moving quotes are a guess dressed up as a number. Somebody walks through the house, writes down a total, and then the crew that shows up charges by the hour anyway. We skip the theater. You can read the hourly rate on the home page, we tell you honestly how many hours a move like yours usually takes, and you pay for the time it actually took. If we finish early, you pay less. The two hour minimum is the only floor.

Where we work

New Lenox and the towns that touch it: Frankfort, Mokena, Joliet, Manhattan, Lockport, Homer Glen, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Plainfield, Shorewood, Crest Hill. That short radius is deliberate. It means we know which Joliet apartment complexes need a certificate for the elevator, which Frankfort subdivisions have the tight cul de sacs where the truck has to back in, and roughly how long Route 30 takes on a Saturday morning. Longer runs to Chicago, the western suburbs, and Northwest Indiana happen all the time, they just carry a bigger travel fee.

How we treat your furniture

Anything with a finish gets a blanket. Anything with drawers or cushions gets shrink wrap. Floors get runners, door frames get padded when the piece is tight, and the load gets strapped to the wall of the truck so it does not lean on the ride. Beds come apart at the old house and go back together at the new one. None of that is a line item. It is just how the truck gets packed.

What we are not

We are not a franchise and we are not a lead site that sells your move to whoever bids lowest. The person who texts you the estimate is on the truck. We keep the crew small on purpose, which means the calendar fills up at the end of the month. If you have a date, call early.
