Flooring crews around here do not move furniture, or they charge more per piece than we do for the whole room. So the sequence is us first thing in the morning, them behind us, and us again when they are done. We stage the furniture wherever you want it, usually the garage or a room they are not touching, and we wrap upholstery and mattresses so drywall dust and adhesive smell do not get into them.
Empty means empty for these guys. Closet contents, the bookcase full of books, the entertainment center with everything in it, all of that has to come out, and the books are what takes the time. If you can box the small items yourself the night before, one hour becomes forty minutes and you keep the difference.
The return trip matters more than the first one. New carpet and freshly finished hardwood scratch easily for the first few days, so everything goes back on sliders or felt, not dragged. We put beds back together and set the heavy pieces before you have to live around them.
